About Konkan
Konkan is a beautiful stretch of the western coastline of India. It has a 720 km long sea face which extends from Dahanu and Bordi in the north up to Vengurla in the south. It is made up of the four major districts – Raigad, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri and Thane.
Konkan region boosts of several places of geographical, cultural and architectural interest. Konkan is rich with several beaches. The coastline is dotted with palm groves, mango trees planted in the agricultural fields, temples, creeks, sea forts, harbors, hot water springs, caves, and the tiled homes.

Dapoli - "Mahabaleshwar" of Konkan and Weekend Destination
Dapoli is a pleasant town situated at a height of about 800 feet above
sea level in Ratnagiri district, Konkan on the west coast of
Maharashtra, India. It is blessed with abundant natural beauty and
enjoys a cool climate throughout the year. Surrounded by hills and
forests and having a long coastline, this is a home for a variety of
migratory birds and animals. There are plenty of cashew nut, jackfruit,
coconut and betel nut plantations. Known as “Mahabaleshwar of Konkan”,
this is a great place to spend your holidays along with your family away

Despite the increase in tourism, Konkan beaches have managed to

of the world renowned Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth (an
agriculture university in Maharashtra), are located here. It was the
Britishers’ military camp and hence is also referred to as “Camp
Dapoli”. Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Bharat Ratna Maharshi
Karve also trace their roots to Dapoli.
Amboli Hill Station
Snuggling coyly, in the southern ranges of the Sahyadri hills, Amboli at an altitude of 690 m. is the last mountain resort before the coastal highlands settle, with a sigh, to form flat beaches.
