About Konkan

Konkan is a beautiful stretch of the western coastline of India. It has a 720 km long sea face which extends from Dahanu and Bordi in the north up to Vengurla in the south. It is made up of the four major districts – Raigad, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri and Thane.

Konkan region boosts of several places of geographical, cultural and architectural interest. Konkan is rich with several beaches. The headquarters of the world renowned Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth (an agriculture university in Maharashtra), are located here. It was the Britishers’ military camp and hence is also referred to as “Camp Dapoli”. Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Bharat Ratna Maharshi Karve also trace their roots to Dapoli.
